Inokashira-koen sakura
Today was one of those days that make you happy to be alive. Beautiful blossoms, beautiful weather. Walked around Inokashira-koen practically in a trance. I'll be back tomorrow for a proper sit-down hanami. Can't wait.
The sakura (cherry blossoms) are finally in bloom. They are late this year and I'd almost forgot about them. And suddenly they are just everywhere and at their peak, in full bloom. The Japanese use percentages to describe the blooms of sakura and other flowers: %50% means half the flowers are blooming, 80% would be almost full bloom, and 100% is full bloom, with every flower open. Today was 90 or 100%. If the next few days aren't rainy or windy, the blooms will stay pretty into next week. I'm crossing my fingers...
